Spirituality and EFT (part 2)

As a Life Coach and Spiritual teacher I use EFT consistently with most every client I work with. I noticed many of my clients are presenting with severe anxiety as the economy woes worsen. The tapping seems endless. As fast as we resolve one aspect, the next one pops up, almost eager it seems to get It’s chance to dissolve into the sea! The metaphor I use is that the client has a very stormy sea and our desire is to make its surface as smooth and calm as glass. But, what to do when the waves seem endless and we’ve tapped to exhaustion for days on end or longer? The result? the client is discouraged, and I am looking for answers!

Recently I was introduced to a book by Rabbi Bachaya Ibn Pekuda, of 11th century Spain, called “Duties of the Heart” and was especially inspired by the chapter entitled, “The Gate of Trust in God.” I thought, “what if we could resource a fearful person by increasing trust in a Higher Power? What if increasing trust in something greater than the worsening economy could resource an individual and stabilize a stressed and anxious nervous system? And, what if we added a tapping sequence to help remove the emotional disturbance in the nervous system and installed a new level of trust with a positive choice statement?” I thought it was entirely possible and after working with this idea, my clients and I have found the process very exciting!

Of course different individuals prefer other names to refer to this Presence; for example, God, The Essence, Infinite Being, Higher Power, Great Spirit, Father, Mother, The Presence, Master of the Universe, The Unity, etc., and that is perfectly okay. We each have our own vision of connecting to this Benevolent Presence and the soul finds this connection to be positive and calming.

In some clients, trust is hard to find and it’s difficult to imagine that there could even be a Benevolent Presence that is always loving and compassionate. They have been hurt too hard by negative and abusive power. In working with some individuals we have discovered issues of religious abuse, abuses of authority, fear of the evil eye, and even fear of being cursed. These fears seem to stem from another form of expectation: a negative belief in a malevolent power or force. One by one we can use EFT to resolve these emotional issues and hurts and reestablish a confident and hopeful outlook. I am amazed at how effective and powerful this process is. Maybe it’s the EFT, and maybe we have the most powerful antidote in the benevolent, loving, compassionate presence of the Infinite Being we call God. And of course, it’s both!
